Do I need my own AI API keys?
No. Every Atomic Cloud account comes with managed AI built in — embeddings, auto-tagging, wiki synthesis, and chat work the moment you sign up. Each plan includes a monthly AI allowance; you never create or paste an API key.
What happens when my trial ends?
Every new account starts with 14 days of Pro — no card required. If you upgrade, nothing changes. If you don’t, your account simply moves to the Free plan. If you’re holding more than Free covers, your account becomes read-only until you trim down or upgrade — everything stays readable and exportable, and nothing is ever deleted.
Who owns my data? Can I leave?
You do, and yes. Atomic Cloud runs the same open-source server you can host yourself. Your whole knowledge base exports as portable markdown any time, and imports straight into a self-hosted Atomic — while moving in the other direction (self-hosted to cloud) is a single command. A hosted plan should never be a hostage situation.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your data is never deleted for non-payment. A failed payment starts a grace period with full access; if it stays unpaid your account eventually becomes read-only, then paused — but everything is retained, and the moment payment resumes (or you export and leave) it’s all there.
How is this different from running Atomic myself?
Functionally it’s the same product — same app, same API, same MCP integration. Cloud removes the setup: no Docker, no server, no API keys, no backups to remember. Self-hosting remains free and fully supported; the docs cover both, and you can migrate between them.
Can I use the browser extension, iOS app, and MCP with Cloud?
Yes. Every client that works against a self-hosted server works against your cloud tenant: the web clipper extension, the iOS app, the REST API, and MCP for Claude, Cursor, and other agents.
